The Beilin Museum (The Forest of Stone Tablets) is a unique museum that documents the history of the art of calligraphy. It began during the time of Confucius, when royalty wanted to record his annals. Over time, the art of calligraphy brought about several different styles in the writing and craft, which are all recorded on stone tablets. It’s a perfect way to record this form of art, though, because the details are preserved in a way that ink on paper can’t.

I really enjoyed seeing the transformation of the calligraphy over time. I imagine that only Chinese and Arabic writing can be considered an art form. Roman script is just not as pretty!
