There are aficionados of the Asterix comic books, I know this because my flatmate is one and yet when I picked them up to see just what it’s all about I’m left cold. It was popular enough to have a couple of films come out around 2000 so there’s obviously something about the comics, right? Well there must be because Asterix even has his own theme park. The park is based on the adventures of the diminutive Asterix and is located in the heart of a protected forest north of Paris. There’s different themes in the park to enjoy, taking you through Roman times, the Greeks, Vikings and Gaul and entertainment galore from characters familiar to the fans of Asterix. The rides are family friendly meaning that nothing is too hair-raising but will easily keep you occupied for a day and there are plenty of photo opportunities to be had with people dressed in costumes. I still don’t get it though.

Great! Check out the right hand side of this page - there's a link there in blue text that says Hotels here - these are the hotels we recommend near Parc Asterix.

Parc Asterix

Situated approximately 20 miles north of Paris, Parc Asterix, takes its guests along in the humorous adventures of the park's cartoon character, Asterix, and his friends. You will begin your journey in the times of ancient Gaul, the Roman Empire, through the Middle Ages and eventually back into the 21st century. The park has approximately 30 rides year-round, with various shows throughout the season. Hop onto the Tonnerre de Zeus and you will be speeding along a wooden roller coaster track at well over 80 kph. One of the park's newest attractions is the Gaulish Village, a village of 16 huts based off the Asterix comic series by Albert Uderzo. Acrobatic shows like Les Stars de l'Empire, provide a nice break from a day filled with thrill rides and roller coasters. The park attracts well over 2 million visitors a year with its various rides, shows, shopping, and food.
