One of the most renowned temple and ashram complexes in India, known for its substantial work on Hinduism, it is a school in the breathtaking valleys of Rishikesh laden with stone and golden Hindi statues. Once the most active yoga school, it has little to offer the Western visitor today, except for those keen to immerse themselves in Hindu culture and introspection. “When global orange sun suspended, waits low amid the red/yellow streaked horizon, then all these combine to give this town a very special evening. The temple bells roar, priests enchant mantras. Immersed in sublimation stand the pilgrims. Cupped leaves, with saffron marigold petals and a small candle flame, flickering ride the current of water of wisdom. Suddenly the sky darkens, spreading a blanket of stillness. Everything stops, except the sound of current, which has just sunk the tiny flames of cupped leaves, few minutes back”.

Parmarth Niketan is an ashram located in Rishikesh, India. Rishikesh - known as the City of the Divine - is a spiritual center to which sages, rishis, saints and pilgrims have flocked for millennia. Parmarth Niketan is dedicated to bringing health to the sick, education to the illiterate, food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless and hope to the downtrodden.

Have you been there? If so, what is it like?

it the same Parmarth Niketan which is also at Rishikesh? Can you tell us the daily activities and lodging facilities, I mean the activities are same just as in Risikesh? Please tell us all other details of your Ashram because we want to visit Hardwar and want to stay for 3to4 days, want to do meditation and looking for peaceful place with little comfort. Can you suggest the best what to do? An earliest reply in this matter will highly be appreciated because we want to move as early as possible. Thanks
