If you are travelling in Peru in June, and searching for a combination of music, art and culture, here is the perfect experience: the 2016 Selvámonos Festival in Oxapampa.
It will be the 8th edition of this event, which takes plce in a beautiful valley on the edge of the Peruvian rainforest,
The Festival will take place in 2016, from the 27th of june to the 2nd of July.
The structure of the festival will be the same as last year: 5 days of free cultural activities in Oxapampa from the 27th of June to the 1st of July, and two days of concerts on the 1st and the 2nd of July. We will have around 20 bands during the two days, with 4-5 international artists and the rest national bands. We do not have the line-up defined so far, I will send a more detailed description of the festival 2016 when we have more information.
We also organize two smaller events in Lima, the "Electro Selvamonos" in January and "La Primera Parada" in April, which is like a small version of the Festival in Lima.
The Selvámonos organisation also develops a wide variety of initiatives to transform the Festival Selvámonos into an ecologically responsible event, promoting conservation and enhancement of the environment. They have hence created an Ecozone, part of an Environmental Fair, with the involvement of the native community, as well as various sports and leisure activities. In addition, Selvámonos offers the option to contribute to a socio-ecological project by purchasing a “Pase Verde” (green pass), which, besides the two day entrance, includes a donation of 10 S/. to a project of vegetable garden for the children of Oxapampa in collaboration with the organisation Ania.
