There are a few areas you can focus on in order to find savings (that you didn’t have before):

  • Changing the mechanics of how you save
  • Saving money around the house (by reducing your expenses creatively)
  • Saving money (or rather, spending less) on the road and in preparation for traveling (hint: don’t buy a lot of fancy travel gear before you go; chances are you won’t need it)
  • Rejigging your credit and debt plans to pay the least amount of interest and reduce unnecessary expenses
  • Spending less while shopping
  • Getting the family involved, and focusing on the bigger financial plan
