Dear friends and The World By Sea supporters.

First and foremost, thank you for your support. Currently in Honduras, I am seeing first-hand your contributions make a difference in the world. In this instance, it's with HIV infected orphans, and some of the cutest kids around! However, in the past year and a half your donations (100% of them) have gone towards school supplies, medical supplies, seeds for crops, water coolers, a freezer and a prosthetic leg... to mention a few. Every adventure has been exciting, inspirational, and sometimes life changing (including for me). But that's not why I'm writing.

I'm writing because I want you to decide my next humanitarian adventure. Until now, I have selected the needs that would be met as I encountered them in my travels. I've realized in that time that there are a lot of causes you are passionate about. There are causes that in the quiet moments of life tug at your heart. Now it's time for your voice to be heard. I want you to share with me and the world your passion. Because I want to help you-help the world.

Here's the plan:

   1. You Share. Go to the following link (Choose The Change)  and share your heart. Tell me about the need that speaks most to you. It can be anything, anywhere in the world-in fact the further and the more detailed the better. If you'd rather keep things private you can email me, but there's a good chance your passion will challenge and inspire others the way it has you. Over the next several weeks, I will collect and review every idea submitted. Then I’ll pick 3-5 of the top submissions.

   2. You Decide. Once the suggestions have been narrowed down, I will post the selection and a description. Maybe you just want to learn more about a certain area, people, or need. Or maybe you just want to see me travel to the most uncomfortable location possible. Whatever your motivation… the vote is yours!

   3. I Go! It's as simple as that. I’ll contact the organization, project or person that was most voted for and let them know we’re coming. In the meantime, I’ll be raising money. Once again, 100% of the money raised will go towards the need (none of it to me). Once again, I will video, photo, and blog about the volunteer work. Once again, you'll get to watch your dollars at work, only this time it will be for something your passion.

So there it is. I’m putting the reigns back in your hands. I want your help-to share, to decide, to be a part of making a difference. Now… Let’s get to work!

PS. Feel free to pass this on to anyone who might be interested. I don't think anything will happen if you forward this email to 10 or more people, but if good luck really does come from chain letters then it's probably be worth a shot....

I hit the ground instantly. The force of impact nearly knocked me out. Stunned, I tried to gather and prepare myself for more. I didn’t know how or why, the only thing I was sure of was that I was under attack.

I found myself in a hammock, swinging back and forth between exhaustion and the inability to sleep.

  • One Basic Need

These kids are different. They don’t look different. They don’t act different. They don’t even feel different…but they are. They know they are, which might be the greatest challenge these children ever face. They’re all HIV positive.

  • Life in Ruin

The roads are made of stone. Honduran men stroll casually through the streets. Shielded from the searing sun, their machetes swing step by step, in and out of the circle of shade offered by their cowboy hats.
