I'm staring into the face that sunk a thousand sailors. In this town, pleasure is a 24-hour business, and Nikky is the Anita Roddick of the Pleasure Business. A wide-eyed queen of capitalism, whose shop, 'Nikky Massage' gave the most renowned happy endings. ''Nikki is a Legend in this town'' says my host, Jack ''Everyone knows her round here.'' Here in Patong, she glides around on her pink bicycle, whacked out on painkillers, a skinny thai lady with long, thick, dark hair and a long, thin, dark body with tattoos that make Amy Winehouse's bodyscrawls look like varicose veins. Her face is a solid example of why they call it 'plastic surgery' - wide, staring eyes that take a few seconds too long to register your words and a slow, careful way of responding to your questions. When I asked her what she was drinking, she slowly focussed on me, her head gently tilted back and then lowered her head in a slow motion nod.
''Red wine?'' says Jack as he jumps up to pour her drink ''Thats all she drinks'' he mentions to me.
