A boutique hotel is defined generally as a smaller hotel with intimacy, character and a high level of personal service. Boutique hotels are often quite luxurious, but not usually in the traditional sense of "gold taps and bell boys". The luxury of a boutique hotel often comes with the personal service, the attention to detail, the character and the setting. Many boutique hotels are very luxurious.

Jasmine Holodays also feature several "design" hotels which are often very minimalist and unique in style. It's a hard style to get right and these kind of hotels are often "love it or hate it" kind of places. One person's uber-trendy minimalist chic is another's concrete cell, so be warned, these hotels are not for everyone.

Asia has some absolutely wonderful heritage style hotels, buildings which have been restored to something like their original form and transformed into luxurious hotels. Singapore and Malaysia have some fine examples.
