Spas and Spa Resorts in South East, United Kingdom
The setting has to be the special feature of this hotel and spa. From their website, you don't get the full picture of how special it is: the number of separate barns that are actually rooms, in the grounds, the relaxed and unpretentious grounds, and its proximity to the sea. We'd advise leaving yourself enough time to go for a wander down to Climping beach through the trees, and maybe even treat yourself to a meal in the evening in their beautiful courtyard restaurant. The spa treatments all use Temple Spa products which we really liked. They have a great range, and appealing packages for mothers-to-be, stressed executives, a Serious Detox, or Pure Indulgence... You could conceivably spend 12 hours here indulging yourself with a day spa package, then go for a walk by the sea and play tennis as well in that time: a very special miniature holiday. |

Spas and Spa Resorts in Southampton, United Kingdom
A Thai-inspired spa in the heart of the New Forest with a variety of excellent treatments and therapists and a great hydrotherapy and thermal treatment area. Careys Manor is a big Tudor mansion set among the trees, real picture-postcard stuff, hazy, pretty old England. This is a hotel spa that does what it does to the highest standards, in every department, from the food to the spa treatments, and the staff are relaxed and helpful at all times. Anyone who's looking for some real escapism in a relaxed and friendly environment will really love this place, particularly those who appreciate a good hydrotherapy pool and thermal treatment rooms. The spa's green credentials include a 10% discount from the standard tariff for guests who travel to the spa using public transport, along with organic Living Nature treatments on the spa menu and yummy local, organic and free-range produce on the hotel's food menu! |

Spiritual Retreats in West Country, United Kingdom
This very peaceful, very nurturing retreat, is based in a beautiful old thatched cottage, nestled in the Dorset countryside. From the home cooking, to the hand-made face masks, the place is full of simple pleasures served up with a lot of love and care. You can choose Shamanic Healing, Manual Lymph Drainage massage, an Ayurveda consultation, one-on-one yoga tuition, acupressure and much more. There's a temple in the garden built on two ley lines with the biggest crystal you've ever seen rising out of the middle of the floor. You can meditate in there, and that's also where they hold the yoga classes. The food is entirely vegetarian, very plentiful and all absolutely delicious. You help yourself from big, generous bowls on the table. You certainly won't go hungry here. The therapists are fantastic: enthusiastic, supportive and well-informed. I came away with a lot of good advice. If you are looking for an unpretentious, friendly retreat with the bonus of delightful spa treats and spot-on therapies, you won't go wrong here. |

Spas and Spa Resorts in Leeds, United Kingdom
Waterfall is a stylish, professional city spa with great treatments and facilities. Fantastic relaxation areas, with two circular beds and two semi-circular ones, were surrounded by hanging curtains of metal chains that were distinctive, shielded and gave privacy. This is a women-only spa. As such, it changes the atmosphere. It felt like a place to pamper and indulge, to gossip and have fun. Some of the women I met were obviously "regulars", who book in time for themselves or to meet and catch up with friends. But this place isn't "girly", thankfully. It's smart, witty, design-conscious, and very grown up. It's ideal for busy, hard working, women who need some "me time" away from work or family responsibilities. |

Spas and Spa Resorts in North East, United Kingdom
Once home to the Titanic textile mill, the huge industrial building is now a revitalised spa and apartments that share the same name. Titanic is the UK's first eco-spa. It aims to have little impact on the environment so you can pamper yourself without conscience. The spa is supplied with water from a bore hole on site. The facilities for people with disabilities are impressive, too. On entering, the atmosphere is one of space, with cool greens and browns. The entrance hallway is beautifully done in stone. It isn't set up as so many spas are with the pool and treatments rooms in the same place - the pool and gym are separate from the spa. You can easily walk between them when spa-ing, but you have to walk through the public reception area (people wearing clothes!) to get there - this does affect the holistic spa experience. However my hamman massage was great, and the Decleor Aromaplastie Illuminating Facial was one of the best I've had - and I've had a lot of facials! |
