    Hotel Features. Panoramas of the Grand Canal, the Lido and Adriatic Sea are possible from the property. The hotel's main building is the original 14th century palace of Doge Dandolo. It is a Venetian gothic landmark, lavishly appointed with pink marble, stained glass, gold leaf columns, Murano glass chandeliers and antiques. For dining, Terrazza Danieli Restaurant is a rooftop restaurant with views of Venice. It serves Mediterranean and traditional Venetian specialties, including risotto and deep fried scampi and calamari with vegetables. Bar Dandolo is set in the grand hallway of the hotel and features afternoon tea, snacks, drinks, cocktails, and live music is performed regularly. Pushing the romantic envelope, sunset cocktails on the terrace are available from June through September. Guests can browse daily newspapers in the lobby, use the Internet and take a boat trip to Venice Lido in the hotel's private boat. Hotel amenities include 24 hour room service, dry cleaning facilities, a 24 hour front desk and multilingual concierge services.     Expert Tip. Nearby Piazza San Marco is an architectural landmark and has been a prime subject for generations of painters, including Claude Monet and J.M.W. Turner. The Tate Britain and the Kimbell Art Museum have held major exhibitions on these artists' use of natural light in rendering the Piazza and Venice.
