Location. Located in the world's oldest living rainforest, the Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa in Daintree, Australia, is a true "green" experience. Surrounded by ancient waterfalls and near numerous endangered and rare species, this property works to preserve aboriginal culture by collaborating with the Kuku Yalanji tribe who provide guided rainforest tours, cultural performances and art classes.

Hotel Features. The 15 room Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa is comprised of eco friendly dwellings built on stilts to preserve the tropical greenery. High in the trees the hotel's lodges are on the Daintree River and overlook a lily pond and rainforest boardwalks. Guided tours provided by the Kuku Yalanji include cruises on the Daintree River, watching crocodiles at sunset, making ocher for Aboriginal art projects or body art with a Kuku artist and interactive rainforest walks focusing on education and conservation. The Spa at the Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa features Vichi Showers, nourishing foot massages using local products, a calming smoke ceremony to invigorate the senses, and warm mud treatments and polishes. Guests may also participate in yoga and meditation on the waterfall deck or in the rainforest garden. Dining options at the Daintree are al fresco at the Julaymba Restaurant featuring Oven Baked Red Snapper, Rainforest Salad, Dark Chocolate Pudding and Reef Fish Cakes. The Daintree provides special services for weddings including event catering, and rainforest and waterfall services. The Daintree hosts recycling and composting programs, and treats its own wastewater to ensure the continued care of the surrounding ecosystem.

Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa feature 15 rainforest villas in secluded positions. Each villa is decorated in original Aboriginal Art. Villa beds are screened with mosquito netting and plush linens. The villas offer fully micro screened balconies with outdoor Jacuzzis, televisions, CD players, minibars, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Select rooms offer wireless and dial up Internet access. Guest bathrooms at the Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa are ensuite and offer separate bathtubs and showers.

Expert Tip. In addition to a Top 10 Hotel Award from Conde Naste, the Spa won awards by focusing on ancient Aboriginal therapies and rhythmic massage using the rainforest's natural ingredients.

The Daintree is a totally unique ecosystem, but one of the striking features about it is that some of it still functions on an ancient rhythm - the older sections are more than 135 million years old, so here you can see many different evolutionary stages all at once.
