Haugastol for the world's best snow kiting

The flat, snow swept plateaus around Haugastol offer 3,200 square kilometres of prime snowkiting fields. The snow is about six metres deep and only one road runs across this incredible space, with very limited vehicle access, so it's just flat white emptiness on top of a glacier and snow and snow and snow and snow. Haugastol is high and cold so the winds vary from dangerous to gentle making it a good place for both beginners and experienced kiters (it's a new sport so there are lots of beginners.) and pretty much anyone who is anyone in snow kiting trains here so the best will show you what it's all about. Snowkiting is actually pretty easy to learn, on hard snow there is no resistance so you don't need much wind to get you going and you use your kite like a sail and putt putt along getting the hang of things - it's much easier than learning to kite surf 'cause it's flat.
