Sonoma county is twice the size of Napa county, it has more vineyard land by far and it makes wines to rival its more famous neighbor to the east. Yet Napa gets more attention. Go figure: and figure well, for a trip to the many sub-regions of Sonoma will be easier on the nerves (fewer tourists, less traffic) and the pocketbook (the Gucci-bag ratio is 4/1 : N/S).
