This man made trench has been purpose built for windsurfing to take advantage of the best wind conditions. It’s only open at certain times of year and you have to pay to use it (it has to be regularly dredged to keep conditions ideal), but when conditions are right you can get up to excellent speeds with the winds blowing at 50 to 60 knots. The current 500metre Speedsailing record was set there. (48.7 knots or 501 metres in 20 seconds.).
