The Mecca for the serious windsurfer. Hookipa Beach Park is the most famous of Maui beaches and is the spot that everywhere else is judged on. Kanaha, Spreks, Camp One, Baby Beach – Maui isn’t short of famous beaches. It’s not just a wavesailing haven as even the most inexperienced windsurfer can find a spot to suit as well as sit on the hill at Hookipa and witness some of the most advanced windsurfing. All the top windsurfers spend some time each year in Maui. The best time to go depends on your tastes. Winter is lighter, less predictable wind but the swell is bigger. The summer is windier but can have long spells of no waves. Maui used to be a really expensive place to visit and although it still isn’t cheap life is a lot easier with the current dollar to pound exchange rate.
