The Bruce Trail

See more Walking. See best of New Brunswick in Canada.

If you love your trails then the Bruce Trail in Canada is probably already familiar to you. The trail follows the edge of the Niagara escarpment, one of UNESCO’s Canadian biosphere reserves. The Bruce Trail and the escarpment run through some of the most populated areas of Ontario, with an estimated 7 million people living within 100 km (62 mi) and some of the destruction their presence has brought is noticeable along the route.

The trail begins in Queenston, Ontario, not far from Niagara Falls. A side trail of the Bruce Trail leads you to it. It travels through the major towns and cities of St. Catherine’s where it passes through wine country near the Short Hills Bench, Hamilton, Burlington, Milton and through parks that include Woodend Conservation Area, Dundas Valley Conservation area and Bruce Peninsula National Park before finishing in the town of Tobermory, meaning that the trail is over 80km long.
