The Caves of Drach

See more Visitor Attractions. See best of Balearic Islands in Spain.

These large show caves have been tastefully and carefully lit and given a live backing track by Chopin and Offenbach to add ambience. Centering around Lake Martel, one of the world’s largest underground lakes, the whole series of caves is linked with a waterway that appears an inviting bright ice blue due to the limestone and the lighting. Stalactites grow in forests off the roof, in some places straw thin and in other in wide statue like shapes, and in places rainbows of Agate have been revealed by ware. These rainbows are like the rings of a tree, and have formed in lined rows over thousands of compressed years.

Visitors can travel round in boats or on foot, people are allowed to enter once an hour so it’s not too crowded but for the quietest visit aim for the first or last journey though.
