Amusement parks are an odd thing, they have all these attachments to our happy (and not so happy) childhood memories yet behind them lurk these big bad corporate companies trying to extract every last amount from us. They’re not really such innocent places are they? Well, Linnanmaki Amusement Park in Finland isn’t any different in the sense that it’s looking to get money out of you, but the reasons behind it are entirely different. Although entry is free, you have to pay for each ride which would be a costly day if it were not for the wristbands which allow you on all of the rides. With the park being over fifty years old, the rides have a mixture of new and very old – nostalgic trips indeed! The biggest difference between Linnanmaki and other parks is the reason as to why it’s taking every buck, euro, pound, rupee, etc, it can get from you. The money collected from the park are used to maintain the rides of course, but also to try and raise some cash for child welfare work, an idea that dates back to 1907 when special children events were run to fundraise. What a nice idea and worthwhile cause.
