Wellington's Cable Car

See more Visitor Attractions. See best of Wellington in New Zealand.

Wellington’s popular funicular railway has been running since 1902. Over the past century, it has run a nearly straight course from Lambton Quay to Kelburn and has become one of Wellington’s main tourist attractions because of its historic significance. A museum commemorating the Cable Car lies near the Salamanca stop, one of three stops on the famous route. Cars leave from Lambton Quay every ten minutes.
