Finca Vigía, Hemingway’s white pillared Cuban mansion pokes out of the greenery surrounding it looking old, mildewed and of another great era. Hemingway lived in this house for 22 years and it still contains his collection of 9,000+ books, his papers, letters and manuscripts, his clothes, his furniture, photos and other effects from his time there. Open as a museum since Hemingway’s death, the villa is now in need of repair but still offers an excellent insight into the life of this great man and the gnarled ties between Cuba and the US.
