An ornate villa with 9 bedrooms, outhouses and swimming pool, 10 minutes’ walk from a sandy beach (sleeps up to 21) Syros, Skyros, Sifnos, Spyros … it’s hard enough choosing one of the myriad Greek islands for your holiday, without the additional confusion of them all sounding so similar. Secondly, its spacious rooms are tastefully laid out with marble floors, beamed ceilings and old walnut-wood and wrought iron furniture. Thirdly, it has a large, shady garden with a secluded swimming pool – rare in a culture based around the beach and village square. Then there is the rest of the island: two sandy beaches at your doorstep, lots more accessible by car or boat, and the elegant, bustling town of Ermoupolis, packed with churches, cafés and civic buildings.
