‘Truly a High Spot !’

There are unfortunately few people in this world who can take a bare cliff top and transform it into a retreat from the the world, that has a unique relaxing influence on its guests.Leon and Semra have achieved this (and more) at Yediburunlar Lighthouse.

Arriving at a remote village, miles after leaving the tarmac behind you will receive the warmest welcome and a light supper which hints at the delights of the vegetarian meals and excellent wine to come throughout your stay. The place that you come to share is truly a home and was built by them to offer an escape to 10 to 12 guests. On waking next morning you will be astounded by the views of the torquoise sea far below and the mountains inland.

Adjusting to this experience may take you a day or two, and its fair to say the feel is very en famille, but relax you will. To help you keep up your appetite for the fantastic meals Leon guides local walks, which are chosen and tailored to suit that weeks guests. Some prefer to enjoy the pool and the tranquility.

You will never leave Yediburunlar behind, a small part of it will leave with you and drive you to return. If you let it, it will raise you above the daily grind.

‘Yediburunlar Lighthouse Cooking School’

Up until 2008, guests have visited the Yediburunlar lighthouse to relax in the spectacular surroundings, to enjoy the specially designed day trips that the hotel runs to help you experience as much of the region as possible, and finally to gorge themselves on the delectable cuisine produced by Semra, the hotel chef. As if all this isn’t motive enough to spend a week at the hotel enjoying the Turkish sun and lounging around by the pool, at the hotel you can now do a week cooking course to learn how to whip up a 6 course meze feast of dishes like smoked aubergine with cheese sauce, sautéed mushrooms, walnuts, onion, garlic and cumin or fried Haloumi cheese with red peppers. Most of the food will be vegetarian, but you’ll also be barbecuing aromatic fish in the Turkish sunshine and using the best organic produce the region has to offer. You can work off all the eating by going on organised walks to local secluded beaches and swimming in the crystal clear water to cool off during one of the hotel’s weekly gulet cruises.
