The William Tell Express
See more Trains. See best of Switzerland
|
The full William Tell Express tourist package technically begins with a very slow boat trip on Lake Luzern, but from here the train (which passes through the point at which the Confederation Helvetica was signed, hence its heroic moniker) takes a dramatic, twisting trail. The almost Mediterranean scenery is certainly a highlight, but the feats of Swiss engineering that are the tracks, tunnels and bridges in this area can certainly divert the attention, as can Wassen (if you are a train spotter), being the busiest knot of interlaced train tracks anywhere in the country.
