Its 650 kilometres of track took decades to complete and begin by the Pacific Ocean in Los Mochis, rising to great feats of engineering 2,500 metres above sea level, so the Copper Canyon Railway is certainly a good way to see a cross-section of Mexico’s natural diversity. After creeping round sharp mountains and teetering across bridges over immense ravines, the route plunges down again into the barren, breathtaking Chihuahua Desert and finishes in Chihuahua city.
