Just like a luxury hotel, a Blue Train can provide its passengers with the possibilities of watching television, buying jewellery and reclining in a full-size bath amid muted colours and highly polished surfaces. If you are able to dissuade your butler from pampering you at any point, you will also have an opportunity to view some of South Africa's most glorious scenery. Between Pretoria and Cape Town (or vice versa), the Blue Train route passes through diamond mining country (which resulted in the world's largest man-made hole), Table Mountain, the Great Karoo and some very inviting white, sandy beaches. The whole trip takes two days.
