Located in eastern Kyoto, the Kiyomizu Temple is one of Japan's most recognizable Buddhist temples. Although the shrine dates back to the late 8th century, many of the current buildings on the site were built in the 17th century. One of the temples most brilliant features is the indoor waterfall that gives the complex its name.
