‘Mentawais need a boat’

The trouble with all the Mentawai breaks (there are now about a dozen well known spots) is that even though you need a boat to get there, they are still generally crowded, either with others from your own boat or surfers from other boats, of which there could be as many as half a dozen (boats) at one popular spot at one time. Waves generally tend to be in the 3' to 8' range but it can be flat and thee can be bigger surf on occasion. Lefts and rights. Fast reef breaks. Great waves if you like reef breaks and you can somehow avoid the crowds. Good for intermediates and up.
