Museum of Genocide Victims

See more Museums. See best of Vilnius in Lithuania.

The former headquarters of the KGB and Gestapo in Vilniushas been converted into a museum dedicated to the victims of the genocide documenting the oppression they suffered under the Soviets and Nazis. One of the key exhibits is the 50 celled former KGB prison in the basement, left in the same condition it was in when evacuated by the KGB in 1991 with padded torture room, induction and interview rooms, cells, officers rooms and the execution chamber. The rest of the exhibitions focuses on each period of the fight for independence. The guides are all former internees, which adds an intensity to the experience - some of these people had hideous things done to them within these wall. Gediminas Ave. 40, Vilnius
