Experience boho Goa at its best in this newly restored old Hindu mansion, tucked away in the quiet village of Siolim (sleeps 8 adults, 2 children)

Raj Angan, 'Royal Courtyard', is probably the funkiest house in north Goa. Lovingly restored from a 150-year-old ruin by German owners Raimund and Ute, this royal blue house has a magical feel. It's located in the quiet village of Siolim, just off the tourist trail, and gives a taste of traditional Goan village life. However, Morjim Beach and the popular nightspots of Baga and Anjuna are only a short drive away.

Built to ancient Sanskrit architectural principals, the house fuses Eastern and Western aesthetics. Inside, there are 4 double bedrooms, and the main suite with its huge gallery, imaginative lighting and vast four-poster bed packs a real punch. Added features like the full-moon terrace - decorated with reflective white china - give the place a quirky feel, and it's easy to see why it's a favourite with rock stars and creative types. The tropical garden filled with giant mango trees, bright pink futuristic sunbeds and a modern pool make it a perfect oasis to retreat to. And to help you drift into the laidback Goan vibe, yoga and massage can be organised at the house.
