The Mount Hutt ski area is located on New Zealand's South Island, on the eastern region of the Southern Alps range of mountains. It is one of the country's best loved skiing areas due to its wide range of open slopes and its panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding mountains. There are a range of opportunities for beginners with the resort offering excellent teaching facilities. There are also a wide variety of slopes for advanced skiers as well as off-piste skiing on nearby glaciers. There is no accommodation on site but the nearby town of Methven is a favourite place to stay with great après ski and friendly locals. The area is awash with ski resorts and if you tire of Mount Hutt there are several other resorts within a two hour radius.
