See more River Trips. See best of Canada

Beginning its journey at the base of the Llewellyn Glacier in British Columbia, the Yukon River empties, via Alaska and Canada’s Yukon Territory, into the Bering Sea. Despite being the longest river in North America, there are only four places where vehicles can cross (and two more bridges just for pedestrians.). Much of the Yukon flows through pristine wilderness and there are five wildlife reserves along its banks.

Paddle steamers were once the most commonly seen vehicle on the Yukon, especially during the 1897 Canadian gold rush when prospectors travelled along the river in droves.
