This mountain pass is one of the few with a name that rings a bell in the minds of the collective public. Straddling the huge mountains linking Pakistan and Afghanistan the Khyber Pass has been key location both for trading and military action. Just inside the Pakistani border on the Safed Koh mountains which are part of the Hindu Kush range the winding path runs 48kms from Fort Maude through a narrow canyon to it’s highest point at Landi Kotal before reaching the Afghani border at Torkham and opens onto the Dakka Plains. The path was originally cut by the British, begun in 1879.
