The last steps of the Russian Tsars - the Romanov dynasty    The last steps of the Russian Tsars - the Romanov dynasty

8-day cultural tour following the exile of the Romanov Dynasty in the Urals and western Siberia.

7 days, from £1280 (Private tour). Krasnov Ural Tourism »

The Ural Mountain Range forms a natural, physical border between Europe and Asia from the northern Kazakhstani steppes south to the Arctic coastline. They’re also known for being loaded with gemstones including zircons and topaz as well as rich in minerals such as coal, gold and silver, and some areas have been mined extensively.

The highest mountain in the rage is the beautiful and rugged Mount Narodnaya, but the area known as the South Urals, where the range is at it’s widest is one of the most spectacular, a landscape of forest steppe and green topped hills and peaks, alternating smooth and sharp. The Subarctic Urals, also called the Stone Belt, is also picturesque, but this time with the flavour of an alpine meadow. Sablya and Manaraga are two mountains in this portion very popular with climbers.
