This park protects the world’s oldest evergreen rainforest, narrow, towering trees with live above in the canopies and below in the ferns but nothing but graceful trunks in between. The forest grows from limestone mountains which fall away into deep valleys with narrow lakes. Virgin forests like this one are known for their unique flora, but Khao Sok has some unusual fauna as well, including mouse deer, bears, gibbons, banteng, sambar deer, Malayan tapir, macaque, porcupine, marbled cat, wild boar, and Asian wild dog. One of the most unusual ways to see the park is on a elephant safari.
