Legends always flit about the perfume world of small, independent, natural scent manufacturers in charming, pastoral towns who supply their exquisite products to large designer brand names, but will sell inexpensively to those in the know. Galimard is one of these, and their intoxicating, expertly-layered, natural scents have no advertisements but their divine-sounding names.
Galimard is based on the French Riviera in Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, which is swept in one of nature’s most glorious aromas every August during the famous annual jasmine harvest festival. Other deeply scented flowers and plants such as lavender, orange and lemon flower, thyme and roses have been grown and distilled for perfume at Grasse since the 18th Century, and Jean de Galimard started his business there in 1747, supplying scent to the king himself.
With its own flower fields, distillery and museum, and opportunities for visitors to create their own perfumes and even meet ‘the Nose’, Galimard is a tempting prospect for visitors, but they also supply their products online so you can bring a romantic little waft of French alpine flowers into your own life!
