Great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius named his home Ainola after his wife, Aino. It’s believed that Ainola’s remote quietude created an idyllic environment for Sibelius to create his musical masterpieces. The couple lived in the wooden cottage, overlooking Lake Tuusula, from 1904 until their deaths, Jean’s in 1957 and Aino’s in 1967. The home has since been converted into a museum, paying tribute to the composer’s life and works.
