Ghosts of Dunster Castle

See more Paranormal. See best of West Country in United Kingdom.

People have reported ghostly sightings at Dunster for years and years, but the most famous ghosts that are seen the most often are the Grey Lady and the Foot Guard, who wears a three pointed hat. These two manifest themselves as blurry shapes or faces but there are others who are less well formed and manifest with noise, chills, feeling of general unease or else in the form or bright floating orbs. The dungeons starved many and old stories said bodies were really left to rot so people didn’t get a proper burial which may be why they haven’t settled properly.

This is an old ruined castle and there are plenty of spine chilling stories about what’s gone on here in the past. In times of siege soldiers have been forced to eat their horses and even Cromwell was afraid of it and had it ruined. You can always tell something is up if animals are afraid and there are stories about workmen’s dogs wanting to spend days in the car rather than come in with their masters.

Psychics and mediums gather here all the time and even the National Trust has had it exorcised at the request of staff…
