The San Martin Ecological Center is a refuge for Amazonian wildlife. Accessed by a narrow bridge over a dizzying slot canyon, a variety of native species can be seen including capybaras, monkeys, peccaries, ocelots, tairas, pumas, Andean spectacled bears, wild cats, and jaguars. The bird section is equally fascinating, with an assortment of large and extraordinarily colorful Amazonian birds such as toucans, macaws etc. as well as Andean condors. Friendly tapirs roam the grounds and can be petted.
