The Brooklyn Museum of Art is another New York giant, with collections representing a broad spectrum of art, from ancient Egypt to the cutting edge. There are plenty of must-sees in the permanent collection (Egyptian and Middle Eastern decorative objects, American period room displays, costumes and textiles) and the museum hosts excellent temporary exhibitions.
