Mont Blanc
See more Mountains. See best of Piedmont-Northeast in Italy.
The highest mountain of the Alps, Mont Blanc is the birthplace of modern Alpinism. The route can be climbed in 2-3 days when you are acclimatised and though crowded in summer it is beautiful. Also the views from the mountain over the Alps are stunning. Not very steep, but the snowy route up till 4810m/15,781ft high requires crampon experience and a fear of heights should be absent. Climbed all year, main season is summer. There are a few main routes, which can be climbed by most starting Alpinists when guided. You will need to acclimatize on smaller peaks, of which there are plenty in the area. Nights are spent in huts and many parts can be done with cable cars.
