The region surrounding Mt. Everest contains 4 of the world’s 6 highest mountains and is arguably the most spectacular mountain region on Earth. Thousands of trekkers make pilgrimages to famous viewpoints such as Kala Pattar and Gokyo Ri each dry season (October-May). A 3-week trek allows one to take in both viewpoints and a few others. Go slow to acclimatize. Be sure to hike above Namche Bazaar on a clear morning to take in the view from the Everest View Hotel – the world’s highest. The sight of Everest, Lhotse and the incomparably beautiful Ama Dablam soaring above the Dudi Khosi gorge is even more breathtaking than the altitude.
