A jewel-like mosque unusual in not featuring an 'eivan', as it was constructed for the private use of the royal family in Safavid Iran (16th century). The dome is also unusual in having a pale yellow background which changes colour depending on the time of day, with elaborate tile work on top. The lattice work inside and play of light on the intricate mosaic of tiles make this the most fabulous mosques in Iran, standing in sharp contrast to the overwhelming richness of the other major mosques. The whole building is a masterclass in harmony and perfection.
