Otara Pacifica Market

See more Markets. Near to Auckland (12.88 km) in New Zealand.

Otara Shopping Mall, Auckland. This is one of the worlds largest Polynesian markets, expect traditional crafts like bone and greenstone carvings and woven mats and bags with more modern market fare like CDs and t-shirts with funny slogans and fresh local produce (apparently the mangos are amazing.). The multiple jewellery stalls imply it’s a good seller and you can find paua and jade from mass produced souvenir cheap to hand crafted by masters expensive. Polynesian locals, including people of Maori, Pacific Island, Pakeha and Asian descent as well as tourists drop by adding a cultural dimension through music (from choirs to rap acts) and the smell of exotic and unfamiliar cooking, think coconut, sweet pineapple and spices. Open Saturday mornings.
