With over 3000 stalls, the Ben Thanh Market, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Vietnam has to have something to appeal to you. Everything a resident of, or visitor to, Ho Chi Min City needs can be purchased in this huge open air square, from food, tea and coffee to clothing to crafts to Chinese medicines to curiosities like snake wine to junk you didn’t even know you wanted/ needed until you saw. Bargaining is expected - be aware that if you look like a tourist even if you haggle you will probably still be paying tourist prices so don’t feel too bad about trying to talk sellers down - it’s all part of the experience. Expect a crowded atmosphere full of people, noise and tempting smells from the local food stalls at the back. Open every day at the intersection of Le Loi, Ham Nghi, Tran Hung Dao and Le Lai streets, District 1.
