Hotel Metropole
See more Hotels. See best of Venice in Italy.
Great hotel with plenty of character in a good position on the lagoon's edge in Venice. Half the price of its more famous neighbours, the Danieli and the Londra Palace, it was formerly an orphanage - and the hotel is crammed with antiques and collected objets. Some of the rooms have had a design makeover, verging on the kitsch, but if you like a sense of theatre you will appreciate the Metropole. They have staff to match, dressed in black.
They often have deals, especially in the November-March off-season (exlcuding Christmas, New Year and Carnival times). If you can afford it, choose the rooms on the corner of the side canal - light and bright and spacious.
