La Cala Golf Resort

See more Golf. See best of Marbella in Spain.

The mountains behind the Costa de Sol make a picture perfect golfling backdrop, which La Cala Resort, the biggest golf complex in Spain, takes full advantage of. Three 18-hole courses compliment the resort, the most recent added in 2005. Campo Europa, the easiest course, has the River Ojen cutting through three of its fairways, larger greens and golf cart tunnels; a severely contoured course, it's bunkered nicely. Campo Asia has water as well, although not a full river, two holes have lakes around them. The course is hilly and short compared to the others (5925 m.). Tees are mostly level or downhill and well bunkered. The last course, Campo America, has no water and steep, grunkle-covered side slopes, fewer fairway bunkers, wide fairways and elevated greens, this course is only slightly easier than Campo Asia. Recent tournaments held at La Cala Resort include the Junior International Championship of Spain, Peugeot Challenge Cup Spain 2008, VII Property Agencies Golf Challenge and Qualifying School for the Ladies European Tour.
