See more Festivals. See best of Belize

The sweet seduction of chocolate is not a new sensation, but this festival certainly is! At the Toledo Cacao Festival, chocolate and everything about it is celebrated and created. Taking place on 18-20th of May, the festival has everything from chocolate making demonstrations to a Maya Deer Dance performed by villagers of Otoxa. The festival also tries to show the culture of the area by including boat trips though the Port Honduras Marine Reserve and expeditions to the Blue Creek Rainforest Preserve where visitors could swim, hike, and go caving. The festival tries to show the many uses (and flavours) of chocolate and provides a fun family outing. Last years new popular creation was a chocolate seaweed drink.
