Once Britain had a culinary reputation that didn’t extend much past afternoon tea and fish and chips, but ‘foodie’ knowledge is the new must have accessory for conversations, especially in the capital. London is a city in a range of flavours, with successful restaurants at both ends of the price scale for budding gourmands to choose from. In this hungry Regents Park setting the ‘Taste of London’ festival had its first course in 2006 – a chance for the capital’s best restaurants and chefs to get us even more hooked on the world’s finest food and wine. The festival is a chance for people to see some of London’s top chefs preparing food and to taste the results, as well as taste some local uncooked produce. The main aim of the festival is to give people the opportunity to eat some of the best meals London has to offer but without having to pay top price for them and possibly pick up a few tricks to try out on your own dinner party guests at the same time.
