Everyone wants to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day but the Irish still do it best, and nowhere more so than in their capital city of Dublin.
Five days (and most of the intervening nights) of strenuous partying engulf the city during mid-March. Such good-humoured mass-consumption of alcohol is a marvellous thing to see, and combined with street theatre performances, parades, concerts, dances, firework displays and treasure hunts, it makes for an unforgettable reawakening of the springtime spirit.
The fact that most of the events are free to attend makes the whole experience even more accessible.
