Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival

The Just For Laughs Festival, described as the ‘Cannes of Comedy‘, is the world's largest festival of comedy, delivering laughs galore through street performances, stand-up, theatre, film and television appearances.

Over the eleven July days of the festival, local and international, celebrity and unknown comedians perform in over 2,000 shows, more than half of which are usually free and held outdoors. More than a million people make up the audiences who enjoy street theatre centred around Montreal’s Latin Quarter during the day and attend ticketed programs and local venues in the evenings.

The festival is also a popular event for both established comedians and writers and talent scouts looking the big new funny thing.

In 1996 the Comedia Comedy Film Festival was added to the Comedy Festival Program. For the more serious visitor there are also workshops and comedy seminars. The first half of the event traditionally showcases French speaking comedians, while the second half English speakers.
